As the first rookie minicamps are kicking off, there are a few names left on the free agent list that could be signed come OTAs or mandatory minicamp. Here’s a list of the top five offensive free agents who could help any team, and where they could potentially end up.
#1 QB, Aaron Rodgers -> Pittsburgh Steelers
Aaron Rodgers has yet to decide whether he’ll return for the 2026 season. As May begins, speculation around the future Hall of Famer’s plans is heating up again. If Rodgers does come back, a return to the Pittsburgh Steelers seems likely, though he has said he is “keeping his options open.”
The four-time All-Pro put together a solid season in 2025, leading a Pittsburgh roster with limited offensive firepower to an AFC North title, the franchise’s first since 2020. While the Houston Texans handled them in the Wild Card round, the Steelers showed real promise with Aaron Rodgers under center. He finished the year with a 65.7% completion rate, his best mark since his MVP campaign in 2021.
It is clear on tape that Rodgers is not the same “Discount Double Check” gunslinger he once was. However, if he returns to Pittsburgh in 2026, he would likely step into a wide-open quarterback room and give the Steelers a chance to maximize whatever he has left in the tank.
#2 Jauan Jennings -> New York Giants
After the San Francisco 49ers drafted Ole Miss wide receiver De’Zhaun Stibling and signed both Mike Evans, a future Hall of Famer, and Christian Kirk, it became increasingly clear that 28-year-old Jauan Jennings would not be returning to the Bay in 2026.
Jennings has spent the past five seasons as a reliable “next man up” option in San Francisco, but NFL front offices have been hesitant to meet his asking price.
To be fair, it is difficult to label that price as unreasonable in today’s market. Alec Pierce reset expectations this offseason in Indianapolis, landing a four-year, $114 million deal with the Indianapolis Colts, a contract that sent shockwaves across the league. Jennings, though impactful in a different role, appears to view himself in a similar tier as Pierce. That is where the disconnect lies in negotiations.
Part of the challenge is situational. Pierce benefited from being an in-house re-signing, while Jennings is navigating the open market. Still, a deal for the former Tennessee standout should come together before the end of the offseason.
Jennings offers a prototypical frame at 6’3″, 212 pounds, along with the versatility to fill multiple roles. He is a willing blocker and does not shy away from big moments, traits that make him a valuable addition for any team, assuming the financials align.
One potential fit is the New York Giants, who have been searching for high-end receiving help since the Odell Beckham Jr. era. With a rising star in Malik Nabers already in place, Jennings could be a strong veteran complement.
#3 Tyreek Hill -> Kansas City Chiefs
Tyreek Hill suffered a serious knee injury in Week 4 of the 2025 season. Although he is expected to be ready for 2026, teams have been cautious about committing to the eight-time Pro Bowler.
Even with the injury, front offices know exactly what Hill brings. The “Cheetah” once hit a recorded top speed of 23.24 miles per hour early in his career, and that game-breaking ability carried into his prime, including a dominant 2023 season with nearly 1,800 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns for the Miami Dolphins. If he is even close to that version of himself, it is surprising he is still on the market this late into the offseason.
As Hill’s career winds down, a move to a contender makes sense, and a reunion in Kansas City feels almost too perfect. The Chiefs have shown a willingness to lean on veteran stars like Travis Kelce, trusting their experience in big moments. Pairing Hill back with Patrick Mahomes for one final run would give Kansas City another explosive dimension and offer Hill a chance to finish where it all started.
Sometimes the story just writes itself.
#4 David Njoku -> Los Angeles Chargers
After nine seasons with the Cleveland Browns, David Njoku finally broke out in 2023, posting 81 receptions on 123 targets for 882 yards and six touchdowns. However, following a down year in 2024, Cleveland signaled a shift by drafting Harold Fannin Jr., a move that pointed toward a younger future at the position.
With his time in Cleveland likely coming to a close, Njoku now hits the open market looking to be paid like a top-tier tight end. While he may not reach the level of Isaiah Likely, who landed a three-year, $40 million deal with the New York Giants, he still offers clear starting value.
The Los Angeles Chargers offer a “best of both worlds” situation for David Njoku. They currently rank near the top of the league in cap space and have a clear need for a stable veteran presence at tight end. Oronde Gadsden may still hold onto the starting role, but Njoku would not need to replace him to make an impact. Instead, he could serve as a versatile, experienced weapon in a Jim Harbaugh offense that frequently utilizes multiple tight end sets.
#5 Jonnu Smith -> Tennessee Titans
Jonnu Smith is not far removed from a breakout 2024 campaign, when the 30-year-old posted 88 receptions for 884 yards and eight touchdowns with the Miami Dolphins. Yet just two seasons later, he finds himself deep into free agency.
Smith’s production dipped in 2025 after getting buried in a crowded tight end room with the Pittsburgh Steelers. While the numbers point in the wrong direction, there is still reason to believe he has something left to offer as a versatile offensive weapon.
The Titans stand out as a logical landing spot. After losing Chig Okonkwo to the Washington Commanders, the Tennessee Titans have both a need at tight end and the cap space to address it. Smith would provide a reliable veteran target for rising quarterback Cam Ward as he enters his second season.
